Ready, Set, ...

I am keeping up with the blog because Gabby is too busy to do it. She is eating four meals a day and spending her time with friends. Everything is set for Wednesday. We are set to arrive at the hospital for 5:30a.m. The surgery (Mandible and Maxilla Sagittal Split Osteotomy) is to start at 7:30a.m. He thinks it will take 5 - 6 hours to complete. He told us Gabby will be out of it for the majority of her hospital stay. She will be discharged on Friday. We appreciated all the prayers. We will try to update the blog each day after the surgery to keep everyone informed. El

  1. Hey Ellen! I didn't even know this was happening! I will definitely keep Gabby in my prayers. Jennifer had this same problem, however, she was something like 5 years old when I took her with me to talk about braces for Phillip. The ortho looked at Jen, and told me he could fix her jaw problem with braces. She got braces at like 5 and then again when she was like 10. Her teeth and jaw are beautiful now, but I think the key was starting very young. And she still wears her retainer EVERY night- just like I do. I,probably like you, had no idea they could start braces at 5! Good luck Gabby! It will be worth it!

  2. We started this process when Gabby was very young also. We started with an appliance that was supposed to help widen her upper jaw. We did that for about a year, but we did not get the results they would have liked. I am OVER second guessing if we did everything we could to prevent this. We are here now and looking forward to a new and improved Gabby very soon. El

  3. Hey Gabby,

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. I know you'll do well, especially with all of the prayers offered for you. The hard part will be being patient afterwards but you know it will all be worth it.
